Geopark Fermanagh & Cavan Tours
I was delighted to attend OCN Level 2 Tour Guide Training recently run by Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark and the Lough Erne Landscape Partnership. This course was perfect for me as I love exploring Fermanagh and Cavan and learning about the geology, history, folklore of the Global Geopark in the area where I live.
Big Dog Walk, Fermanagh
Big Dog Walk is a Geopark Forest Walk, and the forest gets its name from the larger of two hills, Big Dog and Little Dog that feature in its skyline.
Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail, Fermanagh
Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail near Belcoo, Co. Fermanagh, has gotten extremely popular over the last couple of years, not only for its famous “steps to heaven” social media posts, but also for the wonderful bog-land habitat it traverses, and great views of the surrounding areas.
Fowley’s Falls Rossinver, Leitrim
Fowley's Falls is a picturesque 3km walk along the Glenaiff River in Rossinver, north Leitrim. This particular section of the river features several small waterfalls over the exposed limestone bedrock as it makes its way towards Lough Melvin's southern shore.
Shannon Blueway Experience, Leitrim
This 12km walk begins at the floating boardwalk on Acres lake, Drumshanbo and takes you onto a gravel walking path along Lough Allen canal, over Drumhauver bridge through Drumleague Lock and finally to Battlebridge Lock near Leitrim village.
